Venu X1 brightness changes

Hey all. Just got the Venu x1 today. 
I want the screen brightness maxed and only maxed. How do I do this? I’m new to Garmin venu x1. I don’t want the brightness to change ever. Right now it is maxed in system settings display and brightness but it’s very dark on the screen and sometimes gets brighter. I don’t like this. It’s too dark to see. So I want brightness maxed out all the time. 

i dont use always on display. It’s off unless I move it or touch it to wake it up. 

Only trying to set it up but don’t understand much.

    are you sure settings are correct? I have mine on lowest brightness and it is almost too bright in all situations

    Well I have on the watch itself in system settings display brightness the setting max. Up all the way with the plus. In a not so bright room the watch is too dark. If I swipe the screen and do stuff on it the screen stays dark. After several seconds it will brighten up. It doesn’t stay maxed out. That’s what I need. It’s too dark. And I have it set brighter. 

    is there no way to disable auto brightness? You can or could on the Venu 3. There was an option for it. I see no option for this on the Venu x1. if I can’t disable the auto changes I may return it for the Venu 3 or probably 4. I need the brightness to stay the same. How do you do this?
