I hear callers but they can't hear me (mic doesn’t transmit) (iPhone 17 Pro, iOS 26.1)

I’m having an issue when making or answering phone calls through the watch. I can hear the caller just fine, but they can’t hear me. When I send DTMF tones they can hear them though (so audio output is fine), and the microphone itself works perfectly in voice notes. This issue also seems to affect the Phone Assistant feature (meaning Siri cannot hear me via the watch either). I don't believe this is a hardware issue.

Details:

  • Venu X1 software version 15.16

  • iPhone 17 Pro running iOS 26.1 (but this also occurred on 26.0.1)

  • Garmin Connect current version from App Store (5.19.0.8)

  • Unpaired/re-paired, reinstalled Garmin Connect, ensured no other Bluetooth audio devices are connected

  • Voice notes record normally

The clearest way I can state the problem is that it seems like the watch’s microphone doesn’t transmit over the Bluetooth hands-free profile (HFP).

I see there is the exact same issue on the fenix 8 forum here, so I suspect this may be related to Garmin's current software.

Has anyone else seen this behavior? Any confirmation that Garmin is tracking it?
