Abrupt Auto Brightness

Same issue with Fenix 8 Pro AMOLED: forums.garmin.com/.../1984640

  • Tell me in a bit more detail about what your Venu X1 is doing. As I am reading in your comment on the Fenix 8, the behavior described looks to be by design. You can also review the Venu X1 Display options in the following article:

    Venu Display Brightness Settings

  • Thanks for reaching out!

First, the online manual in that link shows a user interface that appears to be for the Venu3.  None of it matches the user interface on the X1!

Second, the problem is as I described it.  If AOD is enabled and the watch goes into low power mode (where it updates every 1 minute) in a bright environment, then if you are in a darker environment and look at the watch, it is shown at full brightness, which way too bright.  Then it lowers the light level.

on other Garmin watches, the watch detects the light level and shows the face at a reduced brightness.

the difference is that the X1 sets the brightness before sensing the ambient light level, while all the other OLED watches sense the level and then sets the brightness.  The later is MUCH more appealing.  On the X1 the momentary over brightness flash is jarring.
