Venu X1 - GPS track lying?

I had a "trail run" activity on. On an inserted image, you can see that I walked by an oval stadium. I stopped nearby to have a drink and then I continued my walk/run. The GPS track however shows that I ran the oval 3 times which I never did! How is this possible? Does Garmin use some AI guessing when the GPS signal is lost? Any answers or ideas? Any settigns to change? How do I tell your AI that drinking near an oval track doesn't make me a runner? I find it quite concerning that the final GPS track of my activity is a guess work.

  • Garmin has some algorithms for detecting athletic tracks. It's quite possible that this algorithm is far from perfect and can fail when you don't run on a track but are close to it. A very interesting case. I'd contact Garmin about it. In the meantime you can try to look for an "auto track detection" setting on your watch and turn it off.
