Abnormal battery consumption

Hello everyone.

I bought the watch last week and I have to say I was really happy with it. Yes maybe the battery doesn't last as long as the Fenix but I don't care, I was ok with 4 days of battery life.

But since a couple of days something happened, not sure what. At the moment I have to charge the watch every single day. The battery literally goes from 100% to dead in 13 hours.

I have always on display off and pulse oximeter is set to only work at night.

Not sure what happened, haven't changed anything, did not touch any setting. It just started to drain super fast.

  • Same problem here! In about 3 weeks of use, I experienced 3 sudden battery drains. The thing is, I have aod off, I am not using any activity or app, my watch face is the standard and I checked everything, that could lead to a higher consumption beforehand. Also I am using the latest software.

Kind of annoying to realize, you are meeting friends, having 50% of battery and after checking the watch 3 hours later, there are 3% remaining....

I read about this issue several times online from other users

Are there any insights to why this keeps happening and what to do against it?

  • Not sure what caused it but it seems to be gone after power cycling the watch twice. Now it lasted for around 6 days so the issue seems to be gone

  • Got a new V X1. Charged it up to 100% yesterday afternoon. This morning, after a night with Flightmode on, Wifi off, sleep mode active and PulseOxi on at sleep, it was down to 56%. I'm quite unhappy. Is there anything I need to consider?

  • I found out that if I try to use the voice assistant on the watch, which works through the phone, not only does it only work occasionally, but after using it, the battery starts draining exactly as you described.

Just restarting the watch is enough, and the battery works fine again.

  • Indeed, can confirm this. I shortly tried "Smartphone Assist" yesterday, only to realize that I don't have an assist on my phone. And I simply restarted the watch today. Since then, battery consumptions seems to be back to normal. Crossing fingers and Thanks for the hint.

  • I’ve tried it several times, even on the previous firmware. Just using the Assistant on the smartphone through the watch is enough, and from that moment on, you can watch the battery drain in front of your eyes — 2–3% per hour. Only a restart helps. After I bought the watch, I thought it was really draining the battery, losing up to 80% in a day. But if I don’t use the voice assistant, the battery only drops 7–10% in 24 hours, which is great for me.

  • It would probably make sense to report this as a bug.

  • I had some serious battery drainage issues on an endurance ride this past weekend. I called Garmin and they want me to try a couple more activities. Went out and walked for one hour and it dropped 5% battery and went from showing 7 days of battery to 5. This is after installing the new firmware update 1/20/26. How many more times should I try this before calling back? I literally made 9 miles one day and 14 the next before the battery drained from 100% to 23%, and then one day it completely did not retain any of my activity (which should have been 50 miles each day). Display is turned off, stock dark theme watch face. In October I used this watch on two 50's and it worked perfectly.

  • I have the same issue since the update. Service at Garmin is not what it used to be. Always blaming things that are out of their control instead of owing up for problems with their programming. I am hoping for a new update soon with some "bug fixes". My watch burns through 50% of the battery each day since the update with no gps use and only 90 minutes of music. It used to last over double the time. At this rate the battery won't last long and we will be getting one under warantee. If you find a solution that really works, please post :-)
