Garmin Pay - Wallet is Empty

While Garmin Pay is correctly set up with a validated bankcard, my Venu Sq reports:
"Wallet is empty. Set up the wallet with the Garmin connect app."
Faulty NFC chip according to Garmin Support.

Problem solved by a replacement watch, till the operating menu would no longer appear after some automated software updates.
After a reset to its standard settings the operating menu re-appeared, but so did the Garmin Pay problem of the original watch.

Return this watch too or are there solutions? Uninstalling Garmin Connect may solve the problem but I hate loosing my history, workouts, etc. Is there a way to recover the original content?

  

  • Hello! I apologize this has happened now twice. Uninstalling the app from the phone does not delete any data or history. The only time data is deleted is when the device is reset to factory settings but the app still saves the data. You could do that and then repair the device back to the app. Can you tell me if this resolves the issue.

  • Connect removed from phone, reinstalled and synchronised with watch. Wallet still reported empty. 

  • Ok, can you plug the device into the computer and sync the device with Garmin Express. Unplug the device, power the device off then power it back on and follow these steps:

    1. From the Garmin ConnectTm app, select  or .
    2. Select Garmin Pay >  > Add Card.
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

    After the card is added, you can select the card on your watch when you make a payment.

    Let me know if this works. If it does not as a last resort will restore the watch. 

  • Step 1: "select  or ." meaning? Just go to step 2?

    Garmin Connect remaining as it is, already contains the validated cards. In that case skip steps 2 and 3?

    Cards will only disappear from Garmin Connect, if the device is removed from Garmin Connect. In that case Garmin Pay is also removed from Garmin Connect. In that case the device needs to set up from scratch, reconnected to the phone and cards redefined in Garmin Pay. Quite a lengthy process.

    2. Unplugged the device, power the device off then power it back on

    3. As assumed above bankcard still installed on Garmin Pay, but not visible on Venu Sq   

  • The suggested procedure failed. Could following work? Will I loose data?:

    1. On Connect: MyDevice>Venu Sq>Delete device

    2. On Venu Sq: B.>Settings>Phone>Pair

    3. On Connect: Garmin Pay>Get Started>Follow the on-screen instructions

  • This procedure does the trick.
