How to view heart rate immediately after pressing Stop?

I would like to view my heart rate in real time immediately after pressing 'Stop'. This is because I usually "kick" at the end of a race or a training session. I press 'Stop'  precisely when I cross the finish line, which puts the watch into its "after the run" routine. By the time I push all the buttons and make all the swipes, my maximum heart rate is gone (this is of course because true maximum heart rate occurs about five or six seconds after maximum effort). Yes, I know I can view this datapoint when I get home, on Garmin Connect, but I would like to see my max heart rate in real time immediately after my kick. In other words, I would like to continue viewing my heart rate in real time, on the watch face, after pressing "Stop'.  Is there a way to do this?

  • Does venusq2 have Recovery Heart Rate? Look at the menu you see after stopping the run. On most of the Garmin watches I own there's this menu which does exactly what you want. It displays your HR and a countdown of 2 minutes. After the 2 minutes it stops and displays the RHR which is the difference between the HR when you stopped the activity * and the HR after 2 minutes.

*) I haven't look at it whether it takes into account if your HR still climbs for 6 seconds after you stopped, maybe it does

  • Well, Heck! It was not until I read your response that I realized I have posted in the wrong forum: I own a Venu 3s, not an Sq2. I think the software and buttons are both different, so I'm going to repost. Thank you for responding!

  • You think? But have you checked if the recovery heart rate is there?

  • Thanks but No, my watch does not have "this menu which does exactly what you want. It displays your HR and a countdown of 2 minutes..."  After I hit Stop, I get a two-option menu letting me either restart the run or save it. Then when I save it (as I must, because I have finished the race) it goes back to the standard watch face. Four more buttons/swipes are required before I see my HR.
