Huge battery drain v2.66 firmware investigation

I notice my Venu 2 SQ Music (v2.66) started to have huge battery drain about week ago. Usually it has 5-10% battery decrease per night, but now it's 50%.

Gladly my girfriend has Venu 2 SQ Music as well but she does not update the firmware (her watch has v2.53).

I set all settings on both watch to equal and installed the same version (v5.5) of Garmin Connect app.

Results:

I continue the investigation, next time will check with Auto Lock function enabled and equal Android versions.

Mine too! About a month or two ago. Same software version 2.66.

Update: tried hard reset but did not help. Garmin's planned obsolescence?

Did anyone find any solution to this issue? Facing the same issue with my Venu sq 2 since around July. Started to happen suddenly. Tried all the options to troubleshoot but to no avail.

Still waiting for Garmin to release a software update to fix this. I'm quite sure it's a software issue. My SQ2 is just 1.5 years old and therefore can't be battery chemistry issue. If so then Garmin watch batteries are the worst. My friend's old AppleWatch4 is still working fine.

One more affected Sq2 here.

I don't know when I got the 2.66 update but as of a few days ago, out of the blue, the watch lasts less than 24h on a full charge, after more than a year of 10+ days on each charge.

I haven't found any tool to troubleshoot battery health or internals, or track power consumption. Battery % is the only indication and it's not very useful…

Hello,

same issue for me here (Venue Sq2), I updated my watch two days ago (2.66), since then it doesn’t last more than 24hours whereas more than 7 days with the previous version !!

Once connected to a power supply, surprisingly the battery recharge is super fast like from 0% to 60% in less than 5min for a 1.5 year old watch I hope the battery isn’t dead already !!

if someone has a fix (software ?) feel free to share !

2.66 here for quite a few weeks, and no problems. Venu Sq2 (not Music). Suspect there is more to this than just the software version.

Mine started draining a lot this past week as well. Plugged it in at 46% yesterday, checked last night was only up to around 52% which was strange and thought I'd not connected properly so unplugged/replugged and let it charge overnight. This morning it's reading 47%. It's just barely a year old and contacts/plug are clean. Usually, I could plug it in before showering and come back to a full/almost full charge. Switched to Garmin after Fitbit bricked my previous watch after their software update fiasco merging with Google. Extremely annoyed and angry..
