venu 2 sq music not vibrating

My friend has  a Venu 2 sq music  which doesn't vibrate for notifications.  It seems to vibrate ok for phone calls/messenger calls  but not  message notifications etc.  I have checked all the settings for Do Not Disturb and that normal vibration switched on but it's still not vibrating for notifications apart from  calls.  When I checked it on Garmin support, it advised that the watch would need replacing.  When I continued through the process, it gave the impression that I would be buying a replacement watch for about £111.  Do I get to exchange the watch without it costing, or do they charge me initially and then refund?  I did have to return my own watch for exchange about a year ago but I can't remember how it worked for the cost charging side of things and I am finding it very difficult to message Garmin direct to ask about all this.

  • Right..   After a bit of fiddling and checking, this is now the  situation:

Phone, Messenger and Whatsapp CALLS will vibrate on the watch and leave a notification.
Activities, Messages and notifications of messages are not going through to the watch at all.

I have tried checking lots of different things but lost track and got SO confused.  I also do not have the watch in my possession so it has been doubly difficult, trying to relay all the instructions back to my friend who has the watch.

  • I'm slightly confused what is and what is not working (versus expectations).  I agree the settings are confusing.

For Activities, in Garmin Connect, click on the watch, then scroll down to System, make sure Vibration is not "Off" and Do Not Disturb is also "Off".  Under Activity Tracking you may want to set Status to "On", and MoveIQ to "On" and Auto Activity Start to "On".  Think of all these alerts coming from the watch, not any apps.

For Apps (Messenger, WhatsApp, and so on) that's slightly different.  Click on the Profile icon (top left in Connect), Notifications, set Push Notifications to "Allow".  App Notification should have "Notification Access" on.  Then you can have All Applications (probably not desirable) or you can select which App are allowed to pass on their notifications to the watch.

    Hope that helps.
