Venu Sq 2, no map when following a route on the Komoot app

Hi
I have a Venu Sq 2, with a connected  Komoot account which includes the world pack of offline maps.
However when I transfer a walking route and try to follow it on my Garmin watch, it doesn't show a map, only the blue and red outline of the route, but no background map...which can make it very difficult to follow the route accurately.
Can anyone tell me what I'm possibly doing wrong?
