battery drain

My Venu SQ2 has been great, but in last two weeks it has been draining battery way too fast, about 2%/h. I don't use gps on the watch. I did factory reset, disabled bluetooth, disabled heart rate/pulse ox, screen brightness is on lowest setting but still the battery drains in 2 days. The problems started suddenly, had heart rate monitoring on and used bluetooth for notifications all the time. Firmware is the latest version (2.59). I bought my Venu SQ2 in october 2023 so the battery should be still fine. Anyone else have these problems?

  • I disabled Garmin Connect on my iPhone and the battery of the SQ2 is doing a lot better now. So I suspect the latest Garmin Connect app is communicating too much with the SQ2, causing the battery to drain faster. Maybe Garmin can use this info to fix the issue.

  • I was having this kind of issue on my venu sq 2. I bought the watch only 7 months ago. Battery was going strong and could go 4-6 days between charges but then seemingly out of nowhere, it started draining at a ridiculous rate of about 75% in 24 hrs. I ended up just doing a factory reset and the battery drain seems to be back to the normal slow rate again. I didn't mess with any settings so idk what caused the crazy drainage in the first place. I did notice it first draining quickly right as I was driving from Texas to Florida and back again so perhaps traveling long distances did something weird to the gps? Idk I'm grasping for straws here because I really don't know what else could have caused it. But anyway, just try a factory reset and see if that does the trick. Hope this helps someone.

  • I have the same issue with Venu 2 SQ after last firmware update. Battery drain was 2-3% per day, now it's 25% per day which is huge. The reason is Garmin introduce "keys lock feature" and by default it is disabled. When it is disabled watch has huge battery drain. To fix battery drain you have to go to the settings->system->auto lock and set it to "always" or "not during activity"

  • Mine too. Tried hard reset but did not help. Garmin's planned obsolescence?
