Cannot complete ECG setup (2 factor authentication)

I'm trying to finish setting up the ECG functionality (which is available in my country and the app is there on the watch and works). My watch is on the latest stable (not beta).

When I tap "ECG" in Garmin Connect, it tells me no ECG recordings are available (I've made two that are supposed to be saved?) and that I need to complete the setup to make them available.

I've had 2FA enabled on my account since like forever. Yet GC keeps telling me it's added it, then tries to proceed to sign me in (at which point I get a 2FA code) - I sign in with this code, and then it just returns me to the main screen telling me it needs to add 2FA.

Anyone else seeing this? Is this a bug in GC?

The recordings also not visible on the web application.

  • Support reset the 2FA, and after re-enrolling it works.

  • I was seeing the same after I unpacked my new Venu 4 and got to the step of enabling uploading of ECG data to Connect. I had 2FA activated already a long time ago. And I was seeing the same behaviour.

After some thinking I decided to deactivate the 2FA and see if this might help. You can't deactivate the 2FA on the Garmin Connect account profile page (connect.garmin.com), but instead on Garmin account profile page (www.garmin.com/en-US/account/profile). On the phone, you can get there directly from the Connect app - click your profile picture, choose Settings, Profile & Privacy, Manage Garmin Account. On the web page that opens, choose "Edit Sign In Settings".

When I succeeded in disabling the 2FA, I returned to the Connect and clicked on my watch, then ECG, which got me again to ECG setup, this time successfully activating it. A couple of logins are required through the process, as fiddling with the 2FA settings invalidates all login sessions.

The ECG-s that I had recorded before activating the Connect connection are not visible, although I did click "Save" on the watch each time the measuring was completed ;) Maybe they are sitting dormant and simply taking up the watch memory now.....
