Venu 4 Navigation constantly attempts to enter Power Save Mode (even with 'Extended' timeout)

My wife uses the Venu 4 for navigation, and it works great, including the turn-by-turn data, except for one small detail. The watch constantly tries to switch to power-saving mode every 2-3 minutes, even though we are continuously moving without stopping. In the settings, I choose "Power Save Timeout > Extended" (there are only two options), but nothing helps. During a test 7 km walk, we had to dismiss/cancel this about 60 times. Wouldn't it be possible to fix this so that it works the same as on my Venu X1, where this setting genuinely extended that limit, and it didn't try to end the navigation once during the entire 7 km walk next to her? Honestly, it would be best if there was an option to NEVER turn off or NEVER switch to power-saving mode. A person can't even stop for a drink without the watch attempting to end the navigation. Like I said, on the X1 it's tolerable, but on the Venu 4, it's annoying.

I think it is just a bug, and I hope it will be fixed soon. If they would, however, add the option to completely turn off this limit as a third choice on all devices Garmin, it would be an absolute godsend.

  • Hello!

Which GPS Activity are you starting (Walk / Run / Hike) and when starting navigation are you choosing Courses / Past Activities or Saved locations?

  • Thank you for the reply. I start 'Walking,' select a saved route, and choose 'Start Navigation.' I then don't start activity tracking with the top button; I just swipe right to see the map/line I am following. We are not athletes; we use navigation, for example, when sightseeing so we don't get lost. I use the navigation along a pre-planned route on the Venu X1 in exactly the same way, where I also don't start detailed activity tracking. At first, the VX1 was constantly ending the navigation for me until I changed the setting 'Sleep Mode Timeout > Extended,' and the watch stopped constantly switching to power-saving mode. However, with the Venu 4, they switch constantly even when we are not stopping and are walking quite fast. They even tell me to turn at an intersection while simultaneously switching to power-saving mode. I would really appreciate it if there was an option for BOTH the Venu X1 and Venu 4 to NEVER SWITCH TO SLEEP MODE.
I have also now bought a Fenix 8 Solar for my father and another Venu 4 45mm for my mother; I hope the annoying sleep mode won't be present there either. We don't want to do sports, just follow a route.
