DSW target settings

Hi,

I just replaced my FR255 with Venu 4. One importnant thing that I am missing is how to setup Daily Suggested Workout to be similar to what I have on FR255. On FR255 I have set up pace for running and power for cycling as a target. Then FR255 shows a bit different workouts for running and cycling. Venu 4 only shows basic info like "Endurance, 145bpm" for both, with heart rate as target.

This taken yesterday (Venu 4 in Polish, but it says "Endurance training").

Running suggestion (Polish - aerobic capacity). For cycling same, aerobic with bpm as target on Venu 4 vs sprints with power on FR255.

So how do I:

1. Setup DSW targets to pace for running and power for cycling

2. How can I get different workouts for running and cycling

It is not about different trainings suggested (endurance vs sprints), but about target settings, and separate suggestion for running and cycling (for example running training is shorter)

Venu 4 is great, but I really miss having DSW with different targets and differ per sport, to the point I an considering a return.

Thanks a lot for any help or suggestions!

  • When you set up the DSW you should be able to go to Today's Workout and press the top right button and the option "Do Workout" or "Settings" should show up. If you select "Settings" you can scroll down and select the Running Target to Pace.

  • Hi,

there is no "settings" when entering Daily Suggested Workout. There are two options - "Do workout" and "More", neither has a "settings" option that would allow changing target type for an activity.

What is interesting - when I setup Garmin Coach I get exactly what you describie, but then I do not get "Daily Suggested Workout" at all. When I enter "Run" and select -> Training -> Today's Training, Venu 4 tells me that today training is cycling traiing. So with Garmin Cycling Coach I do not get "Run" suggestion. That makes no sense - people go on business trips, people get bikes serviced, etc.

  • Hi, I'm struggling with the same issue on my Venu 4. I'd like my daily suggested workouts to be Pace based, not Heart Rate based. There is no option to change the running target. Selecting "Settings" opens a menu with "Workout Prompt" and a toggle to turn on and off, "Training Days" and "Pause Training" - please advise on how I can change from HR to Pace! Love my watch but hate this one-track way of thinking for the training.

  • As mentioned above by  this option is available within Today's Workout, and can also be adjusted in the Activity Profile. From the watch select Run > then DSW (Daily Suggested Workouts) > More > Settings > Running Target Type

  • It's not there at all. I have the same issue.

  • I am experiencing the same issue. There is no option on my Venu 4 in the German language UI or in the contect app to change the DWS target from heart rate based goals to watt based suggestion. The same for running: no pace goals.
it is strange that the official reply is just neglecting the reported costumer experience.
the feature is essential for me and I will return the Venu 4 and stay with my dusted FR955.

  • I fail to understand why such a petty feature which everyone is facing and is reporting and garmin continuous to reply with canned responses not really realising what the problem is and what people are reporting

  • Same problem here. My wife Venu 4 only shows heart rate DSW. She wants pace! This is so rodiculous....came from a Fenix 6S....its dissapointing....

  • Apologies for the mix-up. When using DSW on a Venu 4, the only option is to have a heart rate based workout. However, if you use Garmin Run Coach on the Venu 4, you can select either a pace or heart rate based target type. You can learn more about that here.
