Garmin Trainer with Venu 4 and Edge 1050

I own a Venu 4 and an Edge 1050. The Venu 4 is selected as the "Primary Wearable Device," and the Edge 1050 as the "Primary Training Device." A "Garmin Coach" training plan has been initiated on the Edge 1050 via Garmin Connect.

If I open Garmin Coach on my Venu 4 watch, it does not see the plan intended for the Edge 1050. Furthermore, Garmin Coach only modifies the plan based on my status (sleep, body battery, etc.) after the Edge 1050 has synced, even though the Venu 4 can now independently assess training status, training readiness, and so forth.

Could you advise on how to correctly and most effectively use these two devices together? I do not do strength training or running; I only do cycling workouts with the Edge 1050.

  • Since the Venu 4 is not a compatible device for Garmin Cycling Coach plans that is why you are unable to see the training calendar on the Venu 4. I've linked the article What Is the Garmin Cycling Coach Training Plan? so you can see the compatible devices along with additional information on how this training plan will work. You will need to sync both devices because the Edge 1050 is not monitoring the additional data needed to adjust the training plan and that is where the Venu 4 comes into play providing that data.

  • The following is written on the page with Venu 4:

«Track all the ways you move with more than 80 preloaded GPS and indoor sports apps — including walking, running and more. Reach your goals with Garmin Coach training plans for running, cycling, strength and fitness; some even adapt based on your health and fitness metrics. Or get daily suggested workouts made specifically for you.»

How does it turn out that it is written that there is a function, but in the description of Garmin Coach the device is not in the list of supported and you declare the same? I bought a watch because of the appearance of this function as well.
