Resume later function not working properly

I was happy to see that the resume later feature was back on the Venu 4. I used it a lot on a previous Forerunner when walking to work and back later in the day.
But it doesn't seem to work quite right. When I stop an activity and then select "Resume Later," a red ring appears around my watch face and a small icon at the top. Then, after a few minutes, the screen appears with the options "Save," "Resume," and "Resume Later" again.

Select "Resume Later" again, etc., etc. What does the red ring around my watch face mean? Is this because the Move IQ feature is turned on?

Hello!

I have tried to reproduce the behavior you describe several times and have been unable to do so. Would it be possible for you to upload a video of the behavior?

I'll try to do that but I have tosee when it's best time to do that because the resume later gives a huge battery drain. There are several posts on Reddit with the same drain problem on different Garmin watches

At least on my FR955, the red ring means that you have an activity in progress but the timer is stopped/paused. I think it might mean the same thing in your case, although I don't know what the small icon is or what it means. (My watch doesn't have that icon at the top of the red ring.)

For example, on my FR955, if I start a Run activity, then press START to stop the timer, a red ring appears. If I use a hotkey to return to the watchface, the red ring is still visible. At this point, the red ring typically stays visible until I return to the activity and start the timer again.

However, if select Resume Later, the red ring goes away, which is maybe further ammo for your observation that Resume Later isn't working properly. (Obviously the biggest piece of evidence would be the fact that the activity "pause menu" reappears by itself.)

AFAICT with my limited experience [got a Venu 4 today]: if you're in an activity and press the top R button, a menu appears, of which Resumee later is the third option, If you select that the data fields of that activity appears with a red ring. I'm pretty sure that screen is replaced with the watchface after a couple of seconds. If you later resume, the data fields appear with a green ring, also for a couple of seconds.

On my previous watch there was a yellow ring, which appearde with autopause.
