Venu 4 phone calls and voice assistant

Hello,

I've just received my venu 4 today and paired it, all was fine (moved from FR 960).

I've just had chance to test the voice assistant and noticed that all that happens is it launches google assistant/gemini on my phone, the watch hangs on the spinning triangle and proceeds to say 'cannot connect' - during this time if I ask a question, I just get a response from my phone given it's invoked the assistant but almost not transferred to the watch.

I noticed a more critical problem and am wondering whether the two are related. I get a phone call, notification comes through on my watch, I answer (via watch) and the call connects but I cannot hear the other person and they cannot hear me either.. on my phone it shows it's passed to a bluetooth device (venu 4) and turning that off I can speak on my phone as I usually would.

Any ideas? my specs are below;

venu 4

software version bundle 14.10 (DFU-026599)

phone - samsung galaxy ultra s25

OneUI version 7.0 - Android version - 15

garmin connect version 5.17.2

Thanks,

  • Ciao,

questo è quello che avviene sul venu 3 da 6 mesi. garmin non ha mai rilasciato nessun fix e nessuna data per la risoluzione del problema

  • Oh no really? Sorry to hear you have the same.. That is bad... off the topic of the two other issues, I've noticed the battery life has dropped 50% in less than 24 hours - I will wait to see what garmin reply and unfortunately will probably return the watch, I moved from my 960 specifically for these bits with the trade off of having breadcrumb maps, yet I can't use the stuff that made that decision, its disappointing from Garmin.

  • Hello!

Thank you for your participation in this forum thread.  So that I may assist you further, please reply with the following:

    1. May we, if necessary, have permission to Direct Message / email you?
    2. May we, if necessary, have permission to view/access your Garmin Connect account?
    3. In what country do you live?
  • Hello!

It is easier to keep track of different product behaviors if we they are each in a separate post. Please take a moment and create a new thread for battery life issues.

That being said, please try powering the watch completely off, wait for 10-15 seconds and then power it on and monitor battery life again.

  • Hi Tracy :)

Thanks for getting back to me.

    1. Yes you have permission

    2. Yes you have permission.

    3. I live in the UK

I have also raised a support ticket (31187761K1) where I have provided photos and videos of these issues I'm encountering if that helps at all.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Tracy,

I appreciate that it's easier to seperate bugs into differnet threads. However I've got three major issues of primary functionality to me with the watch on a brand new product I received yesterday. I'm more than happy to provide what you need, however I don't have an awful lot of spare time to be creating differnet posts, updating multiple places and repeating the same information I've given on each one because what seems to be like a watch or OS hasn't gone through any kind of QA/regression.

I'm getting to the point I will just have to return the watch, which is a shame as I loved my forerunner, but this has been bitterly dissapointing experience.

I tried that, on that ticket (or a soft reset anyway) thank you, it made no difference, I am likely to not see 48 hours from the watch (AOD off, brightness lowest).

  • @Garmin-Tracy,

How come you quickly respond in this thread while you stopped responding in a Venu 3 thread with users complaining about this very problem?
Why don't you tell the new Venu 4 customers the truth -- Google Assistant does not work on Garmin devices and Garming is engaged in a deceptive advertising?

  • Welcome to the club. We have had the exact same issues with our Venu 3 watches for a year. Garmin is very well aware of the defect and have failed to do anything to fix them.

  • Same problem here: the voice assistant starts on the smartphone and sometimes even speaks three or four words on the watch and then stops. It's pretty embarrassing to advertise this and then it doesn't work.
