Will my Venu 3 be upgraded to Venu 4 style UI, and if not, why?

Such customer support is standard nowadays for smartphones and most smartwatch brands. I believe i already paid my premium for at least 3-4 year support when buying Venu 3 and Venu 4 is not significant upgrade from my perspective. It's still Elevate 5 watch so no more actual data can be obtained form my body. Am i right?

  • Most probably it will not. At least more expensive and generally better supported epix will be not.

I will be surprised as new pure software features like voice recorded will be ported.

Regarding "why": because of money. Garmin believes that bugfixes is enough support for what you paired for. Moreiver, Garmin puts some rather base features behind an additional subscription.

  • You won't get an answer from Garmin, but the difference in features/UI is what Garmin uses to make the product differences. The only updates are some added sports over time, a few small features and bugfixes, nothing major.

As you've mentioned yourself, the Venu 4 is not a significant upgrade over the 3, so they're gonna use the UI as an upgrade reason.

This has been going on for a long time, just take a stroll through older watch forum topics every time a newer watch in the series is released for the low/middle end devices. I'm not expecting any differences this time, so keep that in mind next time you buy a Garmin watch.

  • Nowadays such approach in 400 USD+ smartwatch range is showing no respect to customer base. I would expect 4-5 year support for high end/Fenix line and at least 3 for Venu.

  • Welcome to the club of frustrated Fenix 7 Pro users. You'll get a few updates but none of them will be in any way shape or form significant, let alone bring any new features to your old watch.

  • I vote with my money and just ordered a Pixel Watch 4 LTE.

If I ever need a new sports centric watch, I will opt for Suunto or Coros or alike. Garmin has become overpriced, with an outdated UI and a lack of meaningful progress.

  • Very unlikely that it will look the same. Garmin have gone to a unified OS with the new watches, so its unlikely older ones get any developement. In the end it will simplify developement and hopefully get things fixed quicker moving forward. If you own a older watch like the venu 3 an epix 7 of fenix 7 your stuffed.

  • My ask is if there is any guarantee or commitment from Garmin to keep upgrading the 1st batch of those unified OS watches once Fenix 9/Venu 5/ launch in 2026 or 2027? The UI still looks very simple on Fenix 8 pro/Venu 4.
