Second 15.05 Update

Hello,

I received the 15.05 update a couple of days ago and it seemed fine. It used maybe a few percentage points more per day on the battery, which is not terrible, but not great. I received a second update last night which I see no description for. My watch typically uses 2% - 3% battery overnight but it used 15% last night. I can usually get four days with AOD on and now it looks like I may not get an entire day. I haven't changed anything or installed any new apps. I'll probably try a factory reset just to see if it helps. Please pass this on to folks who can fix it.

I tried both the linked instructions and after that, a factory reset. It did not work - battery keeps draining very fast.

Same for me. I did not change anything and now it consumed 10% in 1 hour.

I tried the following, which did not work:

re-paired with my phone, via removing the device from Connect IQ
turned on battery saver
disabled WiFi, Bluetooth, phone connectivity, HR sensor
used the default Garmin theme
restarted both phone (Pixel 9) and watch

I generally always have the following settings:

data recording: smart
brightness: low
vibration: low
screen timeout: medium
screen always on: off
pulse ox: on demand
wrist HR: auto

I did a factory reset and battery life seems back to normal, though it hasn't quite been a full day yet. It'll take a few days to see if it stays. Hard to understand why an update would require a factory reset to restore battery life.

Weird. I think I got a third 15.05 update so I'll see if it makes any difference and if not, I'll resort to https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/healthandwellness/f/venu-3-series/363001/anyone-else-having-battery-drain-after-the-latest-9-24-update instead of a factory reset.

Same versions as you, except that the Wi-Fi is 4.03 on my Venu 3.

I did get a second update (not a 3rd one to date ..), and I do not seem to have the battery drain that you mention, I was at 100% yesterday when I received the second update, and I am at 95% now, about 24 hours later.

Yes, I often do the hard reset procedure, but without Garmin Express. It didn't make a difference on my watch. Maybe being connected to Garmin Express makes a difference, but I can't imagine what that would be.

I'd encourage everyone in this thread to open a support ticket in Garmin, so that we raise awareness about this in the hope it's going to be fixed.
