Hello Garmin Team and community,
I would like to request a feature that could make Garmin watches uniquely valuable for both patients and athletes:
An always-on background heart rate alert – vibration or sound – when a set HR threshold (e.g., 100 bpm) is exceeded for a defined time (e.g., 2 minutes), without starting an activity.
This would be game-changing for:
-
Long Covid, Post-Exertional Malaise (PEM), and POTS patients, who must pace their daily activity to avoid symptoms
-
Endurance athletes, who want to monitor their aerobic threshold during all-day training or daily activities
Why it matters:
-
Current HR alerts only work during an active workout, which stops other features like stress tracking and makes daily pacing impractical.
-
Connect IQ solutions like Pacing Activity (by Jenshansenen) work only as activities, and Pacing Watch Face cannot trigger vibration alerts.
-
No smartwatch on the market currently offers this feature natively – Garmin could be first?
Even a small implementation – like allowing a watch face to trigger vibrations for HR threshold – would make a big difference.
I believe there is a real market here. Many patients (myself included) would gladly pay $500+ for a watch with this capability. I have already convinced several people in my rehab clinic to buy a Venu 3 because of partial pacing features - but until now, it is not that game changer it could be.
If this is already possible, please let me know. If not, I hope Garmin will consider this for future updates.
Thank you, Paul
