Venu 3 flickers once when woken up after 14.15 update

My Venu 3 flickers once when woken up before showing the watch face. This occurs after 14.15 update received a few days ago. It happens with custom and stock watch faces as well.

The flickering is annoying, but the the drain on the battery is also higher than usual. I tried to restart it, but had no effect.

Does anyone else observed the same problem, or knows the solution?

Thank you!

  • Mine has the same issue, with 14.15 update.

  • When 14.15 update happened I was scrolling through the different settings options to see what's new, and enabled "Settings --> System --> Battery management --> Battery Est. --> ON"  The mentioned flickering issue happened right after turning Battery Est. to ON. It lasted for almost a week and then disappeared with no trace. The watch is now alive and well with no decrease of battery lifetime. There is no flickering.

This is just a theory but I assume that the battery estimation algorithm increased power usage for a limited duration to get some baseline. This is not confirmed by Garmin, but it is strange that this behavior lasted for exactly a week and disappeared.

It is either this theory or some really strange hardware error which increases battery usage and then disappears with no trace.

6164727 I recommend you to wait for a week to see whether this goes away. You can also ask Garmin about what Battery Est. setting exactly does.
