Disappointed with Garmin's update policy on the Venu 3

Hi,

I am disappointed that the Venu 3 lacks a lot of features which even the cheaper models Vivoactive 6 or Forerunner 265 have, i.e. runtime forecast or training suggestions. It seems that Garmin always brings these features to new models, forcing the users to upgrade.

Even with Connect+ they do not offer these features to the Venu 3. Connect+ is a joke anyway, why should I pay 9 EUR for some batches or live tracking?

After more than 20 years of using Garmin, I really considering switching brands with a new watch, most possible a Coros.

Very disappointed as I paid over EUR 400 for a watch without any updates or improvements.

So this is not a question, just my opinion in case Garmin also reads here.

Regards,
Angelika

  • On my Venu 3 doesn't works Vocal Assistant and Voice Calls! I'm very disappointed

  • Dear Angelica.

Well, watch useless on some phones. Where the venu 2 was able to connect, the venu 3 is already constantly disconnecting. Even more so the lack of call and voice assistant capabilities. I don't want to mention anymore the features available on cheaper models that they are not on the Venu 3, because the same thing was happening with the Venu 2 and I knew I could expect it. The watch connected to another phone seemingly works but voice calls require tapping the volume up button to be heard through the watch.
I have until tomorrow to return the watch and I am really thinking deeply about it.
Only really on the other hand there is nothing to buy. Because the Huawei GT Pro They are very beautiful but they do not have the accuracy of sleep tracking such as has the Garmin venu 3 which indeed acctually when it comes to sleep is one of the best watches not being the Apple Pixel Watch and Fitbit.
Garmin Pay payments have never let me down so far. And I've been to different countries and paid in all sorts of strange places. Where other watches HAVE had problems with payments there Garmin Pay has simply worked well. Plus very interesting HRV stats that say very interesting things about the body , very accurate heart rate sensor, great quality sleep tracking, Sleep coach, very interesting post workout information, interesting options when it comes to recovery remaining until the next workout it's all really very positive.

When it comes to the application to create your own watch dials It is here that Garmin should be grateful to one person and should share half of the sales profits with the author of this website

    garmin.watchfacebuilder.com
Because if it wasn't for that, we wouldn't even be able to create our own decent multifunctional dial in our watches And if someone likes to adapt the watch to themselves and their preferences, a simple Garmin app that changes the trivial background in the watch face is just ridiculous.

I know that one buys a watch for a couple of years At least that's the case for me And it's not that I can't go the extra few hundred euros for the Fenix series for example, but I don't belong to professional athletes. The Venu 3 is really a very beautiful classic watch at the same time, although it could have been made of metal instead of plastic. However, compared to clumsy series like the Fénix, it remains versatile for people who like sports and active lifestyles like me, and it retains a very interesting look even though it is not made of metal which would certainly be a better choice. It also shows a lot of cool stats which of course could be more expanded because the watch has all the hardware capabilities of other models only this silly Garmin positioning policy is ridiculous and the watches are deliberately run down by the software..

You are right Angelika only if not the venu 3 then what....
I have already written several times on this forum on the occasion of my older venu 2 watch that if I were in charge of the team writing the software for our watches then venu watches would be the pride of the USA and could be the best watches in the world. Meanwhile, really, the software looks like mere amateurism. Well, by tomorrow I will have browsed other models of various smartwatches and if I find something more interesting I will return the venu3

  • Hi seensoul

    I totally agree with you.
I am also not completely satisfied with the malfunctions of the Venu3 regarding the SMART part but I cannot hide that the SPORT and HEALTH part are absolutely highly precise and flexible to use.
The sleep monitoring and all the monitoring statistics of the parameters connected to it such as HRV and sleep-wake variability are very precise and if the user observes them carefully, he can obtain significant data.
I also believe that the Venu3 is perfectly positioned between those who are NOT semi-pro or pro athletes and those who want a device that has advanced functions. The GPS, HR and atimeter sensors are monstrous in precision!
I also thought about returning it because the voice assistant features do not work on my Xiaomi 12T Pro and the telephone function is qualitatively ridiculous but those who buy Garmin choose it above all for the sports mode and secondarily for the smart one. At least that's what I think.
I had (and it is still in the family on my son's arm) a spectacular Amazfit Balance that on the Smart and software level is light years ahead of Garmin and on the Sport level is almost at the level of Garmin but the customization of the sport apps is not as detailed as Garmin. However it is a truly SUPER device for 99% of standard users
