My brand new Venu 3 shows ridiculously low calorie burn.

After 50 minutes of strength training, the device counted 70 calories. My previous Polar watch would record 350 to 400 calories, which makes a lot more sense. Weight and height are correctly set. What could be the root cause?

  • Typically for me it would be 250 to 300 calories for 50 minutes of strength training.

Active Calories are calculated based on the ratio of your heart rate to the 7 days avg Resting HR, and the Max HR. The higher above the RHR and the closer to the MaxHR, the higher the Active Calories.

Make sure your body parameters in settings are correct - weight, height, age, gender, and then also your 7 days Average Resting HR, and Max HR. Also, wear your watch 24/7 to make sure this is the most accurate. If you've had your watch a short time, it takes a few weeks for the calories to be more accurate.
