Had my Venu 3 for 6 months now, record every cycle ride & significant walk but it still comes up with very silly suggestions for recovery time. Most of my cycling is to work & back, 10 miles each way, am now in my 10th year of this. Possibly the problem is my (presumably much lower) walking vo2max - don’t have a power meter so can’t record the cycling one plus maybe am out with my max heart rate (165; default 158 but have seen a max of 178 on the watch after a big hill climb). Volunteered for a medical study last year (someone’s phd thing) & wore a chest heart sensor for weeks, have asked the student for advice & she suggested 165. Poss my BMI at 27 is considered high too but so is my muscle mass index & bone density with good fat mass (dexa scans in the study) though admittedly can’t tell the watch this.
But after only 2 days commuting am sat looking at recovery of apparently 94 hours but will still commute tomorrow, and the day after etc etc and feel absolutely fine. Am unsure of the point of this metric if it can’t learn? Has it not noticed that it’s always maxed out at the middle/end of the week yet Monday morning we start once again?
It’s not a problem, can keep ignoring it but when everything else seems so right, am surprised this is (repeatedly) so wrong…
