Feature Post suggestions and help

Hello everyone. I have made a feature post request in Venu 3 (link below), and I request ALL OF YOU to comment what you would like to see in Venu 3 and like the post and spread the information as much as you can. The Garmin development team should listen to this post and know what users actually need, rather than pushing out firmware updates with zero features.

  • I would like to see the ability to add an additional exercise mid-workout.

    For example:

    1. I configure an entire workout, that involves multiple sets of multiple exercises.
    2. I start the workout and between one of the exercises I decide I want to add a different exercise before the already configured next exercise.
    3. Hit one of the buttons and have the option to add an exercise.
    4. It goes to a generic count page, and you complete the reps.
    5. Click the button to finish that set, you specify the reps (if the count is off), and you specify the weight (if appropriate).
    6. After that set you have the option to move on to the next exercise in the programmed workout.
    7. When the workout is complete you have the option to specify the exercise you added, or you can specify the exercise in Connect after it syncs.

I have several workouts that I do regularly, but now and then I like to add some random exercise in the middle and don't love that this is not really possible.

If this feature is already available and I'm just too dumb to have noticed, then please disregard this request and point me to instructions on how to do this. I know that at the end of a workout you can easily just keep adding to your heart's content and fix the exercise type later in Connect, but I haven't figured out if this is possible mid workout.

  • You can use Garmin Connect on the Web and create a custom workout (with any name) and incorporate any kind of reps or sets in that. I think this is doable, but I am not 100% sure. I have modified a lot of my run workouts to combine running and jogging/walking in one workout. I believe you can do it similarly for strength workouts too. Give it a try. Once you are done creating it, send to device and sync your device, it should appear on the watch with the name you gave. It is not possible mid-workout, but rather probably doable if you create your own workout (may not be as flexible as you ask).

Follow this link to do that: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=wZ52AaLbLG2GC1Lxu2l4k7

  • I have created my workouts. The feature suggestion I had was the ability to add a generic exercise mid-workout on your watch. Then once you're done and you have sync'd your watch you can update the exercise in the activity.

    For example:

    • 2 sets Bench Press 10 reps
    • 2 sets Squat 10 reps
    • 2 sets ez-bar curl 10 reps

Then when I am at the gym, I finish my squat set and someone is using the bar for curls, so I decide I want to add tricep extension then circle back to curls. I'd like the ability to insert an exercise into the workout instead of being forced to wait around to do the curls first.

Or, better yet, if you can't do it on the watch, grab your phone, update the workout in Garmin Connect on your phone. Then sync the watch and have it update the current workout.

  • Hi FLASHMC13 - There is not a way to add an exercise to a workout on the fly. However, if you have a few exercises that are your normal adds, you could build them into the workout and the skip them on the days you didn't do them, this would also allow for you to add a skipped exercise back in if you did that exercise later in the workout. Take a look at the Workouts section of Getting Started With Strength Training on a Garmin Watch.

  • Garmin-Tracy - Is there an official place where people can submit enhancement requests? There are several enhancements I would like to suggest for strength/resistance training.

    Thank you,

    Robert

  • You can submit any product suggestions/requests on the Garmin Idea's page

  • Did it many months ago, in fact December 2023 if I remember correctly and again sent another suggestion around April 2024 and June 2024. We are not expecting any reply from the development team, but it hurts to see that every update released is just Connect IQ fixes.
