Sleep mode issue? Brand new venu 3s, phone status says it's connected to watch, Garmin Connect will sync, but it is not connected through Bluetooth on the phone.

Brand new venu 3s, phone is Samsung S24 Ultra running Android 14. Just about every morning when I wake up and my day, the phone has disconnected from my watch via bluetooth. It's not every morning but it's most mornings. The watch will still sync with Garmin connect while this is going on and the connect app shows it's connected.

It's not a matter of distance between where the watch is in relationship to the phone. I am in and out of that room all day long everyday, and the watch does not disconnect during the day. It's just something that happens only after sleep mode has been enabled, and I strongly believe it is related to the end of the sleep mode. I DO NOT lose connection like this during the day.

When I go into watch system settings, for phone it says it's connected. However, Bluetooth on the phone says it is not connected and will not connect unless I turn Bluetooth off and back on again. Since the Google Assistant doesn't want to work unless I uninstall all of the Google updates, it's a bit of a pain to have to reestablish a connection every morning because that wipes out Google assistant and I have to go through all of the shenanigans to get it back again.

  • If it is not connected via BT how is it syncing with Connect? I have a Venu 3 and Pixel 9 Pro. It syncs with Connect but the bluetooth settings on my phone indicate a problem connecting. Howver, I never see any issue with the data syncing to connect. My current belief is that it is an Android / bluetooth settings bug.

  • I have wondered the same thing! Maybe it's going through wi-fi???  The crazy thing with my issue with the disconnect after I wake up is that it takes almost a week for it to start happening after the watch is factory reset. And it is a 'most days' thing but not an everyday thing afterwards. I have nothing automated on my phone that would account for this and I never had this issue with my Vivo music 3 that I literally just replaced at Christmas with this new watch. So, I don't see how it can be the phone because it is the same phone with both watches.
