Venu 3 software development DEAD

So I sent an email to Garmin support regarding the terrible software support/updates that the Venu 3 is offered, a 450$ watch. My initial message was lengthy and I even asked if they could convey the customer problems to the development team. I got the following response from them.

This basically conveys that not even the support team wishes to pass on the customer feedback to the development team and the development team is probably never looking at these forums. So that again probably means no more updates to the Venu 3 series and all future updates are just going to be Connect IQ fixes. Never gonna recommend any Venu or Vivo or Lily series to anyone, they are better off not buying a watch rather than buying these expensive, zero support watches.

Anyone who considers to buy the Venu 3, should probably stop buying it, unless they need the wheelchair mode.

Edit: May not make a huge difference, but I would happy if you guys can reshare this post and other posts to anyone who wishes to buy the Venu 3. In that way, probably someone at Garmin will notice. I don't know of any other way. So pissed off for spending 450$ on this.

If you can pass this to the development team, kindly do.

  • Not all of us Venu users want a Forerunner. If I wanted FR I would've purchased one. If that's what you want, you should've purchased one instead of a Venu. They're for different audiences. How many other watch brands get major features added to them after release? I doubt you'll find many. If you do, buy that one instead.

  • Sorry, I did read specs properly, I bought Venu3 at $200Au dollars cheaper than FR265. You can check Garmin web site yourself or shop around, maybe you missed the sales. Im happy with Venu3 for the price I paid.

  • Right not every venu3 user needs/wants a FR. But core functionality must be same for all watches - venu3 is marketed as garmin model closest to the smartwatches, but timer app on FR 265 is better - this is not ok. A watch with a mic must have a voice recorded, especially when another model with a mic receive it.
with Wheelchair users do no need a good timer app or a voice recorder, $450 is too cheap for that. seriously?

How many other watch brands get major features added to them after release?

Samsung - 4 years of major OS update for Galaxy watches (including major features), Google - 3 years of Major OS updates for Pixel Watches (including major features), Apple - no statement but long update with at least some major features.

If you do, buy that one instead.

for me personally, balance is still on venu3 side. but I see that a lot of people do exactly this - switch from Garmins to AW and WearOS models. Not sure that Garmins market share is that huge that it can completely  ignore concurrence from such a minor players like Apple, Google and Samsung.

  • That is a nice deal actually. I got my Venu 3 for like 430 USD (just 20$ offer).

  • To add a point. Garmin does provide major updates to watches like FR, Fenix, Enduro, etc. It just does this unnecessary segmentation and ignores Venu, Vivoactive, Lily, although they are priced higher. Probably the only company that releases this many models. It is good to have options, but Garmin has a lot of them.

  • I came from a Suunto 7 (wear OS 2 no  more updates) The wear OS 2 was made obsolete it was $499 phone, the Venu 3 was my choice. I have waited for 8 months for a price drop, it dropped $200 bought it.

Venue 3  was bigger than Vivoactive 5 ( I sent Google pixel watch back very small and didn't like Fitbit)

I use Strava.  I bought Sunnto 7 they use Sports Tracker,  I feel Garmin connect is way better.

For myself I knew the limitations of the Venue 3, I saw other Garmin watches with better features, but the price range was to high.

I have some problems with the venue 3 but overall very happy with my choice.

  • Nice to know. At that price the Venu 3 is a good deal, agreed.

What problems you have with Venu 3?

  • I use timers a lot. To access, I long press the bottom button and then click Clocks/Timer. That seems easy to me.

For accessing payments, I long click the middle button. You only have to do your password once a day; after that it’s one press.

My only complaint about the Venu3 is that the feel of the buttons is inconsistent. Otherwise I like it a lot.

  • access timer is easy. But I and many others often use a timer for few different duration like 5, 30, 1:20. I came from Galaxy Watch which was able to remember several presets, so one can select needed duration with one tap for many years and 2 years ago added multiple timers support (you can start several timers at the same time). Originally I though that Garmin simply cannot do that. But then I have discovered that it is Venu3 - the smartest from the Garmins - cannot do this, while FR265 and some other models can. And this is very disappointing. I mean it is clear and fair that Venu3 does not have all running and all outdoor features, but it must have all general/smart features other models have.
