Sleep detection is broken with 12.11

My sleep modes start at 12:30 AM and ends around 8:30 AM. After updating to 12.11, it detects my sleep at 12 AM and provides me the morning report by 130AM or whenever I move. This happened twice and on both the days I was working on my laptop and it detected that as a sleep. Around 1:30 AM I decided to take a small walk and then it provided the morning report. This happened yesterday too and I have enabled Pulse Ox for sleep. Yesterday I decide to take a walk at 2 AM and it provided me with a morning report and Pulse Ox stopped there. Attached below is the snapshot. After returning back to bed, I did manually put my watch to Sleep mode, but Pulse Ox did not take any readings.

Pretty irritating that Garmin cannot do such basic things properly. First, Garmin refuses to give proper features to a 450$ watch and on top of it, existing features are now breaking. Is that what Garmin thinks of watches like Venu and Vivoactive series? Like absolutely no love and total trash. No company does such differentiation in software features, it is just Garmin.

  • thanks, yes let me try.
i wish i bought the Fr now, but as i already have the Fenix 6 pro, i thought id get more of a "smartwatch" for shorter workouts and save the Fenix for longer hikes and runs, thats why i got the venu not the Fr.
1 silly thing is your can't silence/mute calls, only drop them. thats so annoying. Its not a smartwatch then if it cant do that. So now i just have calls on no notifications.

  • True that. Garmin calls this as smartwatch but the smartwatch features are also half baked. The keyboard is T9 layout but it has no prediction making typing a headache, or they should give qwerty keyboard with swipe gesture. Also the thing about calls as you mentioned, and for that reason I have disabled calls on my Venu 3. Garmin has a lot of work to do, or else not release any more Venu watches.

Additionally, by releasing FR165 at 299$, it has more features than Venu 3, making it a huge insult to all Venu 3 users. It is basically a slap on the face for all Venu 3 users. People argue that Venu 3 has a speaker and mic, both are average in my opinion. The only time I use the speaker is while doing Yoga or meditation, which is not much. Given all this problems, I wonder why I bought the Venu 3 without waiting and seeing what others are experiencing.
