Battery Drain at Software Version 11.16

I had battery drain issue after updating the software version to 11.16. Before updating battery usage is 0.3%/h now it is 1.5%/h.

Is there anyway to downgrade software to 10.20? 10.20 has battery drain issue too but at least I can fix it by rebooting. Thx.

  • I have the same issue. My battery drain is about 1,5 to 1,6% per Hour (40% in 24h).

Restart didnt change anything. I have controlled if something got activated in the software, but as long as i know my settings, nothing changed via update.

I will test the flight mode. If it works i will let you know.

  • UPDATE:

I saw someone post on a Garmin forum a few years back with similar battery drain issues. I've followed their instructions & so far seem to have recovered my battery life (for now... still monitoring). I've read about switching to flight mode too, which I hadn't yet tested, but assume that would potentially address the same watch connectivity issues...

    I did the following:

    *Reboot watch & phone

    *forget watch in Bluetooth connections

*Uninstall & reinstall Garmin Connect & IQ aps (did phone restart between uninstall & reinstall steps)

*re-pair watch & phone connection via Bluetooth (this took several attempts)

*reconnect watch to Garmin Connect (this also took several attempts to reconnect my device)

    *monitor battery life

Apparently there can be issues with the phone & watch pairings/connections, causing the watch to continuously be searching for connected devices & therefore draining battery life. Note, I had to reset notification preferences etc when I re-connected my watch to the Garmin Connect app. So far I've only lost 15% battery in 1 day with exercise/workout recording - I recently have been experiencing 40% battery drain on non workout days.

Hope this is helpful! Worth a try at least :-)

  • Same! So annoying! I hope they will fix it soon, cuz i'm really pissed about it.

  • UPDATE: I had flight mode on for about 2h. Then i have restarted the Phone and turned off flight mode. After that i have charged the watch to 100%. Since 11:30AM i have lost about 3% until 08:30PM (3% in 9h). It seems it is fixed now.

  • Can confirm - this has seemingly fixed my battery issues!

  • My battery is lasting 4 days more or less. "Aways On" turned off, not broadcasting HR, not using any apps that would explain it. C'mon Garmin, that 12-15 day charge cycles was why I bought this watch!
