Battery Drain at Software Version 11.16

I had battery drain issue after updating the software version to 11.16. Before updating battery usage is 0.3%/h now it is 1.5%/h.

Is there anyway to downgrade software to 10.20? 10.20 has battery drain issue too but at least I can fix it by rebooting. Thx.

  • Same here - using about 25% a day on 11.16

  • Took my watch off the charger with 100 % battery life at 5:02 pm. Two and a half hours later I lost already six percent. So as you can see on the image below, I lost about 2.4 percent per hour.

    For me personal the 11.16 update fixed nothing. It's even worse than 11.14 and 10.20.

    Edit: 24 hours later I'm at 46 % battery. Horrible. Without AOD or tracking an activity. Only some notifications and health tracking.

  • Same here. Venu 3 received less than 24h ago so perfectly new. And I can see that the battery is melting like snow in the sun!

  • Same issue. Fully charged this morning. No activities today and notifications only set to whatsapp, and screen brightness at 20% - battery now at 24%!!!

  • It always puzzles me how we could be using the same watch, getting the same firmware and have such wildly different results. My battery life has not changed a bit with 11.16. So it has to be app related? You have an app or a watchface I don't? Or multiple?

  • The battery life was good for me after version 11.16. Version 11.14 clearly consumed more than normal. But today, I fully charged the battery, and a few hours later, it’s already at 88%. I haven’t changed anything and I’m using the same watch face. I’ve now restarted the watch, and we’ll see if that helps. Before the 11.14 update, I had no issues with battery life at all.

  • Same here - I was getting 9-12 days of battery life using my Venu 3s, and since the last update, I'm lucky if I get 3-4 days now. Noting that I have not changed any other settings on my watch & with the same activity usage. Very bizarre! Would be interested in downgrading back to an older version OR would be happy to update if Garmin resolve the issue. I've been so very pleased with my Venu 3s up until the past few weeks when I've suddenly had battery issues. I use my Garmin to help monitor HR as I have a medical condition, and have been caught out a couple of times with sudden low battery...

  • The same draining issues here have not been solved in either the last or the current version. I always have to recharge on the 3rd day, even without workouts. I hope Garmin solves it ASAP, or I will ask for reimbursement.

    Please try this: phone in flight mode for a longer period of time, then back again.

    I had the same problem. 1.5 to 1.8 %/hour discharge.
    On a flight I switched my phone to flight mode for a longer period of time (8 hours), the watch was connected normally.
    After the flight I turned the flight mode on the phone off again. The watch then reconnected and since then the battery consumption has suddenly been back at 0.25 to 0.35%/hour.

    Edit #1:
    Yesterday the battery consumption suddenly increased again for no reason.
    Then I simply disconnected the watch in the watch settings (Settings > System > Connectivity > Phone).
    After about an hour I reconnected and the battery consumption then went back down.

    Maybe this is an equally good solution without switching the phone in flight mode.
    Please test this as well.

    Watch was fully charged.
    Since 8 AM battery loss: ca. 2% in about 7,5 hours.
    According to battery monitor: currently ca. 0.25%/h since last charge.
    So something worked well. Slight smile
