Watch speaker sound & voice crackling / distorted

My watch speaker has started sounding distorted & "crackly". Both voice announcements like heart rate etc during an activity, as well as the "cow bell" sound when stopping and starting sound distorted. The only thing of note is that we had driven down from around 1300m altitude that morning. Typically it's just out of the 12 month warranty. Any ideas anyone, please?

Strangely enough, yes, it is pretty well back to normal most of the time. I know not the exact reason(s) why, but I suspect it might be something getting into the speaker opening. The day it first happened…

I have the same issue since a few days back. All notifications sound like broken glass, it's so annoying. Did yours went back to normal?

Strangely enough, yes, it is pretty well back to normal most of the time. I know not the exact reason(s) why, but I suspect it might be something getting into the speaker opening. The day it first happened we had been in a big storm in a very muddy river - I did wash the watch in warm water after but it took a while to start working OK. Coincidentally we were at around 2000m alt and had descended to sea level before I realised. I think sometimes things like spray sun protection get into it as well.
