Problem: watch won't pair itself again after going out of range from the phone.
Solution:
Summary: First, pair it the Garmin way. Then, pair it the Android way
I don't know if this will work for everyone, but I was so frustrated after getting my new watch, rebooting and reconnecting many times per day for a week, I was going to return the watch. But then I was lucky enough to get it working. Here's how it worked for me::
Details:
1. Check phone settings, ensure bluetooth section has "forgotten" the watch
2. Reboot both the phone and the watch
First we pair the devices the Garmin way:
3. Open Garmin Connect, and then the camera app
4. With the camera ready, go to watch settings, connectivity, phone, and select Pair Phone
5. Quickly use the phone to scan the QR code shown on the watch, and click on the Garmin link that this produces/shows
*** >> Be careful here. If your watch or phone pops up a message asking if the displayed pairing code matches, DO NOT accept it. Instead, decline it. The only thing you want to do now is do it the Garmin way. So:
6. Having scanned the QR code with your phone's camera, complete the entire connection process (including Wifi connection) in the Garmin Connect App (if you see a request to confirm a pairing code number, do it, but check to be sure the "include contacts" slider-button is toggled over to the right hand side).
7. That's it!
Now we do it the Android way
8. Open Bluetooth settings. You will see either no connection, or a connection that it says is not working properly. If the latter, hit "forget"
9. Now, on the watch get yourself over to the Pair Phone space, but don't hit that yet
10. Now in Android settings, select Pair New Device
11. Now hit Pair on your watch and look back to your phone.
12. Be ready for a possible optin to "Include Contacts" when the Pair Code pops up
13. Say yes to the code presented
14. That's it!
Now you should be able to reboot the phone or go out of range, and have the Venu3 re-connect every time
