Accidentally discard after pausing activity

My wife is constantly losing activities when she pauses a run for instance at a crosswalk. The user interface makes it way too easy to discard by accidentally brushing the touchscreen. It's worse in the winter, but it just happened again after she paused a run, then reached in her pocket for a gel. When she pulled the gel out her watch had already discarded the activity.

This seems like an easy one to fix by burying the discard option or making it a button press option vs. a touchscreen option.

Anyone else have this issue??

  • OK, so in Venu 4, the top right button does nothing on the Pause screen now, right? Therefore to resume the activity, you tap the "Resume" button instead -> I can already imagine new threads "Accidentally resumed activity after pausing" coming soon. :)

Regarding save, the Venu 4 has a confirmation dialog for saving so you'd need an extra screen tap to save.

Yeah, they write "To save the activity and view the details, select Save, and select an option." in their manual. Would be great to see what this means concretely.

  • I just checked, the top right button still resumes the activity, same as the on screen option while paused.

Here's what you get after you select save, sort of an "are you sure" dialog.

  • Same issue here with my Venu 3, just earlier today it saved a run midway after I paused it for only 2-3 minutes to stretch a little bit, and now here I am in this thread with you all hoping there would be a solution instead of a workaround.

A save & discard confirmation that requires an additional physical button press would completely fix this issue from my perspective.
