Venue 3 reverts to negative Altitude

Recently my Venu 3 has, started reverting to showing a negative altitude when not recording an activity (I use the Glance watch face). Even if I reset it via GPS, or via the manual input, after around 10 minutes it changes to showing a negative number. Our house is bang on 85m alt - today it's showing - 48m. I just reset it, and a after a mins it's back at - 48 again. I've tried making sure all the ports etc are clear at the back.

I've emailed Garmin support twice but apart from an automatic reply there's never any answer from them.

Is it a problem with mine or does anyone else's do this as in the past it always seemed to nearly spot on all the time?

  • I haven't noticed this on my watch. Has Glance been updated recently (I haven't used it in a while)? I think there are two different values one can use, altitude which relates to an activity, and elevation which uses the watch's sensor. I always use elevation when I make watch faces in watchfacebuilder.com. Perhaps Glance uses altitude and it no longer holds the value after the activity is stopped - just a guess.

  • Good call - But Glance just has Altitude as an option and not Elevation.

I tried manually setting the Altitude to 133m (85m our actual altitude + 48 it seems to revert to) hopping that when it reset it self it would reset to 85m.no such luck; it reset back to - 48m.
