Anyone else having battery drain after the latest 9.24 update?

I purchased my Venu 3s about a month ago and have been very happy with it until the 9.24 update.  My battery life was 18-20% per day consistently with all features turned on.  After the 9.24 update it's been 33-35% per day.  I unplugged it from the charger this morning at 5:00 am and didn't put it on or do anything with it.  Checked it at 9:00 am and it had dropped 9% with no use.

My normal use is usually from 5:30 am to 9:30 pm so I was seeing a little over 1% per hour and I was expected to get a full 5 days out of it.  I've owned many Garmin watches and never had a problem like this.  Anyone else seeing this issue after updating to 9.24?  I fully feel like this is software issue since it was fine before the update.

Anyone have any suggestions to fix it if you found a solution?

  • Hello. I have the same problem with my autonomy after last update. Normaly i get arround 10-12 days with the basic functions on, AOD off, blutooth on every other day for sync only, no activity recorded in that periiod,, gesture off. After the update in 4-5 days i have 5% . Ive done that reset , and after charged my watch 100% but the same in 5 days 5% battery. I think there is a problem with WIFI management. What ive done is turning off wifi and starting an activity automatically when detects im walking, charged to 100% and now i get arround 4-6% draining/day so after 3 days i have 82% remaining and in that way i will get arround 12-13 days again. I will try after couple of chargings to set wifi ON again to see what happens
What ive noticed is that when i record an activity(cycling, arround 4-6h of activity)i get the same draining as before this problem, so the fast draining happens in smartwatch mode from some bad battery management.

  • Thank you for this.  Bought one for my wife and one for me 2 weeks ago, and she had much better battery life out of the box. I noticed mine update during the set up and I only got 3 1/2 days per charge. At 8pm yesterday I followed this process and after 15 hrs I have only lost 8%: a massive improvement, I was losing over 25% in 24 hrs before this. At this rate I should get 9 days from a charge. Thanks again!

  • With wifi off I have 96% left after 24h

Can't upload photo. Now after 60h of use I have 86%

  • How exactly did you turn off the wifi? I was not able to find this setting on the watch

  • Settings, hold couple of seconds lower button, settings, sustem, conectivity and there u have wi-fi and phone
After 4 and a half days 72% left, no activity recorded, no bluetooth conection just fast sync with phone, gesture off, spo2 off, aod off but same settings before with wifi on right about now i would have almost 10% battery left

  • Right, so under the wifi settings there is jo way to turn wifi off. Only change the status of Auto-upload (which is off by default), manage networks and wifi sync initiator.

What really saves the battery is the absence of BT connection to the phone - which is hardly the normal use case for a Smart watch, isn't it?

  • hmm, i had it previously set ON, and now set it to OFF.. I think you are right. Another thing ive done is move iq deactivated. Maybe reseting the watch for me the battery isue was solved. sry

  • I do I repeat these steps everytime I want to charge or is this a one time fix. Also anyone knows if its okay to charge your Garmin from your phone or does it have to be a laptop or a power bank?

  • It doesnt matter. Most important its the reset. First reset didnt work for me and charged from laptop. 2nd reset after 5 days(100-10%) and then i charged from outlet. After that i got normal draining. Now if i turn off bluetooth from the watch, no AOD, i got 19days estimating(arround 17days real time) but u can get 19 days if under 10% u activate the extreme battery/ settings. Last charge with 3h of gps activity i got 12 days

  • The issue from 8 months ago is back on my Venu 3s (Oct2024). It started draining over 60% in one day with no changed settings and no workout or GPS tracking in the last few days. Normally it drains only 8-10% per day even with constant HR and step tracking.
