Sleep mode manual change does not last after 9.24 update

Since the most recent update (9.24) it's not possible anymore to permanently get out of sleep mode by manually disabling sleep mode during your usual sleep mode times.

The watch will disable it for a couple of minutes, but within 10 minutes it will be in sleep mode again until the end of the official set sleep time. I hope this isn't an intentional change.

I'm used to having my watch be in sleep mode at the exact same times during the whole week. I will, however, be up far more early during the week than in the weekend and make use of the manual disable.

IMO sleep mode should only automatically change at the beginning and ending of your set times for it. Anything being done manually should last until one of these time points passes.

I haven't yet tested if this works the other way as well, with enabling sleep mode during "awake" time.

  • Yes this is happening for me. Being new to Garmin I did think this strange. But if you’re saying it is only since the last update then they should sort it. I work shifts that don’t follow the working week so I set my sleep schedule 10pm to 10am every day. Today I was up for work early and now two hours later I’m still in sleep mode. So annoying. But when I’m off I do get up later on my first day off, and I don’t want to be disturbed by notifications. And dam do I not want to keep setting my sleep schedule. Plus if I go out after 10pm I won’t be able to get notifications when I want them. PLEASE GARMIN allow up to turn off sleep mode when we’re up PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PrayPrayPrayPray

  • I'm surprised there have been no other replies in here yet apart from you.

So it's either a bug for only a couple of people, or most people don't notice/use this functionality.

My week schedule is quite stable, so I've adjusted my sleep times to work around this issue for the most part. Too bad that's not an option for you.

  • My wife has the same bug on her Venu 3s. So I guess most people put up with it. My work around is to use my iPhone’s focus modes. I’m going to set my sleep schedule from 4am to 5am, but put my phone in DND when I’m asleep. I’ll see how that goes Fingers crossed

I just got a Venu 3 and have this issue. I wonder if it could be related to using an IQ watchface? Anyway , is this a known issue?

  • I'm having exactly the same problem. Sleep tracking works fine, but the watch constantly switches itself to Sleep mode, which means no notifications or wrist gesture to see time. This is ridiculous.
