Voice assistant not working on venu 3

I bought a venu 3 today and I cannot get the voice assistant working. It says "connecting" and eventually "no connection ". I read a couple of threads with the same problem but no one has a solution. I tried repairing and resetting the watch but it makes no difference. My phone is a OnePlus Nord 2T. Does anyone have a working solution?

Edit: in the Bluetooth menu the watch is called "watch" not venu 3. I only saw the name venu 3 once in my attempts to fix the voice assistant problem

  • I'm on 15.7.50.28, currently my app isn't offering any update, let's hope that once the app will be updated it will work.

  •  - something to consider - After Garmin told me last week I had to get the issue resolved with Google I used the chat on the Pixel Fold support page to contact Google. They told me Garmin had to fix it. But then a few days later I got the Google update that works. Coincidence? Probably. But it might be worth contacting Google to see what happens,

  • Joining the boat here. GA not working on my Venu 3 paired to Oneplus 11.

It is ridiculous advice Garmin is giving to their customers, for instance in the long Venu 2 plus thread. First of all, if headsets of no matter what brands are working with Google Assistant on Oneplus phones, why wouldn't Garmin be able to? For this reason alone, it is wrong to direct customers to either Oneplus or Google and say those parties need to fix it. Moreover, as if anyone can really contact Google and get a problem solved by them. They're a black box.

Secondly, they point to their "Phone Incompatibility List for Voice Assistant Watches". Anyone looking at that list cannot be seriously thinking this is up to date. I mean look at the devices and Android versions. If this tiny subset of the Android ecosystem would really be the limit, you cannot advertise the Venus as working with Google Assistant.

I've tried removing Google app updates, which made the version go back from 15.7.50.28 to 14.43.28.28. That didn't help. Apparently that's as old as it gets in my ROM, and it's not old enough.

@AI P you said that a newer update to 15.7.50.29.arm64 fixed it. I wonder if that would be a version that will reach my device too. I *think* every Google app version on my phone always ends in .28, but I'm not sure. Do you know if versions ending with .29 are typical for your device?

No, sorry, I do not know.

  • Google app has now updated to V15.8.40.28.arm64 but still no connection to the Google Assistant from the venu 3.

  • Disappointed

FWIW mine did not work this morning but then I rebooted the phone and the watch and it started working again.

  • Voice integration for Venu 2/3 is complete broken  , seem more of a marketing shtick than useful feature.

It works about 1/10 of the time with various degrees of success , however the volume is too low , screen output is inconsistent (at best) and the whole thing just scream Beta.

Tried all the tricks in my disposal ,  updates , removing updates , change OS , change google play version , nothing is proven to be a solution , not even sure that Garmin are working on resolving this issue.

For the price point of the Venu 3 (Premium) I would expect much more love from the dev team.

Garmin watches are great as sport watch , but they have thing or two to learn when it come to build true smartwatch ecosystem.

  • the volume is too low

Try turning the volume up on your phone while the assistant is talking on your watch. That worked for me.

  • After 15.8.40.28.arm64 not fixing anything, I tied removing the Venu 3 from Garmin Connect, removing it from Android's paired BT devices, rebooting both Venu and phone and pairing again. Didn't help though. Come on, Garmin!
