Watch black screening and unresponsive

My Venu 3s recently got sent back and replaced because support found my watch faulty for doing this on multiple occasions. The watch face goes black and completely unresponsive, and sometimes rebooting it worked but others you simply had to wait for it to fix itself which could be ages. Just yesterday I got my replacement watch and on day 2 of having it, it’s already happened again. I’ve noticed similar threads across this forum for all the different types of Garmin watches. Theres something seriously wrong with something in these watches for this to be such a prevalent issue with no real solution. 
does anyone know any solutions that fix this problem for good??? 

  • I'm on VIVOACTIVE 5; I had the exact same issues > this is what worked for the moment...

    • try this temporary fix > AOD OFF + GESTURE OFF + AUTO-LOCK OFF,
    • and also if you want to wake-up screen > use buttons or taps,
    • if you want to turn the screen off faster, use COVER TO SLEEP (cover watch with your palm); goes to WF screen
    • cover to sleep doesn't work with auto-lock, so if you are not on your WF screen, your screen might not turn off at all...
    • I've found the gesture on and auto-lock on the most annoying thing ever; it just a hazard ATM!

    There are serious issues with the screen activating too easy or staying awake/ON for too damn long... (EVEN RANDOMLY WHEN NOT EVEN USING THE WATCH AT ALL); It activates even when touching clothing, sometimes...

    With all of these, I still had freezes, reboots, and unresponsive watch but only while changing default watch-faces... but recovers much faster... I figured out these by my self, support wasn't that helpful, they are just "INVESTIGATING" ~ weird...

    You could replace your watch 100x more times... these are firmware/software updates that need to be fixed someday maybe...

  • The same issue with me, I have so far not had any issues with my Garmin watches and have been perfect with swimming as well. I have a Garmin Venu 3 (got in September 2023) and after my swimming sessions, the display is distorted! I am so much disappointed DisappointedCanCan I replace my watch??

  • Hi .. I envy U all. I bougth mi Venu 3 on January 2nd, made a couple runs and some swimming and suddendly screen becomes unresponsive and then turn of. Nothing I ca do caould make it turn on .. its completely dead. I live in uruguay but i bougth the watch in Panama so I wrote to Garmin Support and they told me to send it to panama and went to Garmin Uruguay representative and told me the same.

    So I have and useless 500 dollares watch plus .. Garmin support sucks and Garmin warranty is only usefull if U buy the watch in your country

  • Please TALK to a customer service executive. My watch got replaced. Definitely yours will be sorted too.. Talking is better than emailing. They will send you a link to upload a video of the watch, and if they don't respond call them again as a reminder and they will help you to replace wherever you are! I was pleased with their service. I heard since it's within 6 months of shopping the watch, they replaced with a brand new one!

  • Can you Google to find out the customer care number? I spoke to them over that. Not sure if the number is universal 

  • Just to inform.. I called to garmin support and the only solution yhey gave me was to send it to US, they would then change de watch and then I should find the way to send it back to my country
