I would like flexibility with how long a Venu 3 takes before the auto lock re-engages (Settings > System > Auto Lock). I personally have this option set to 'General use' to prevent accidental touches. This is because I had experienced random apps being started, music being paused/skipped or other watch functions being activated, amongst many frequent annoyances.
Presently the functional timeout for auto lock is about 10 seconds. This is inadequate as I find it will re-lock when reading the morning report, scrolling through workouts, or any other thing I happen to be doing. I find this experience very frustrating, and it's made even more annoying with the full screen padlock overlay that interrupts the user experience. It's also a bad UX when the interface makes me switch from touch to button activity and back again.
My suggestion is that the auto lock timeout be tied to:
- the general/during activity/during sleep display timeout (Settings > System > Display)
- wrist gesture, aka if I turn the device away, it will auto lock. If I'm still looking at the screen and haven't turned it away, I want to keep using it.
- another user specified time greater than 10 seconds.
I need to use auto lock but currently the premise is flawed. Realistically I would expect that if the device is still being used, I'm still looking at the screen. If on the other hand it's clear I've stopped looking, then that should be the logical trigger.
