RE: Sleep app - worse than useless

Agree, I have venu 3. I was awake from 3:30 to 5:30 laying in bed, I could not got asleep.... The watch says I was sleeping almost all night. I used to have Amazfit GT3 Pro which costs 3 times less than this watch. Amazfit is way better than the Venu 3.

  • Never had such issues. I have had the watch for almost 20 days now. You can try resetting the watch and then observe it again or contact Garmin for support. If you are in a rest state (lower HR, low stress) not using the watch, or not moving much, it can register it as a light sleep. Check the movements for that time period because the watch accelerometer would definitely register any major movements..

  • Using the venu3 since some weeks I'm pretty satisfied with sleep tracking as well as nap recognition and sleep coach. I also had similar nights like you described and I did not face such issues.

  • Do you have a low resting heart rate (also when awake)? I have and for me Venu’s sleep tracking is working just like yours. Apple Watch works much better in my case.

  • Not sure what is a low heart rate value. For instance, right now, I am sitting in my computer and my heart rate is 54bpm. Is it low?

  • It's not working for me either, and I would like to know if there is a way to get more accurate readings. I woke at 515am, talked on the phone, walked about my home, even walked outside for a moment, got back to bed, and it clocked me in REM mostly and then some light sleep and even deep sleep until just after 630am. My watch is snug and worn all day every day. I've had it for just over a week. And yes, much much cheaper watches are getting this part right.

  • I'm not sure either, but my theory is that Venu3 thinks you are asleep when the heart rate is low. It should better detect slight movements and not assume you're sleeping solely based on a low heart rate (though, of course, it's not solely based on heart rate but relies too heavily on it). Mine is 48-52 while I'm sitting with a computer. During the night, it's about 41-46.

  • Update: I have been wearing the watch for 10 days. I must say that sleep tracking is working fine now. On day 5 I did a factory reset, not sure if that helped get more accurate readings or the algorithms adjusted automatically after some continuous days of personal data gathering. I will keep monitoring sleep tracking data...

  • It seems that something has changed for me as well.

Few days ago I noticed that unusual number of wake moments started to appear in my sleep tracking (my Venu 3 usually doesnt show wake moments during my sleep).

And today was one of those day I woke up at 3:44 am and could not fall asleep again. I was just lying in bed...It took couple tenths of minutes but the watch managed to recognize this as a large wake moment. Few light sleep spikes here and there, but overall good job. I have Venu 3 since mid september and it never really was able to recognize these wake moments.

Dont know if SW changed (skin temp sensor) or it was just lucky shot...

  • My watch been fine for about a week and tonight it decided to count the 30min i spent in bed as sleep

  • I like others here, the watch is misreporting my sleep really poorly, I have sleep window set 2200 to 0800. The other evening I fell asleep at 2130, the watch didn't register me asleep until 2230.

Yesterday evening I went to sleep approx 2230 and woke up today approx 0730... the watch reporting me as sleeping 2330 to 0630

Not good enough, the watch is clearly unable to detect the body going to sleep, or the difference between body in relaxed state versus sleep state, I have very low resting heart rate I don't know if that plays a factor.
