Venu 3 will there be a voice reply option for notifications?

I got the venu 3 not long ago i love it for the battery life and its fitness tracking capabilities but one thing thats really bothering me is the ability to reply to notifications with voice, the t9 keyboard is crap and will take forever to use it and not Practical when working out. The ability to just use your voice to respond would be way better and practical to use.

  • You are right. Besides of GPS,  the screen is draining on smartwatches most of the battery. Now using a voice to text option would be for sure faster than using the t9 keyboard, and the screen would be lesser active.

  • Actual T9 would be better. What we have now is multi-tap. T9 uses word prediction and would probably be better.

If you're assistant is working (Android only) you can respond by voice now.

  • T9 uses word prediction and would probably be better.

Definitely. It feels to me like Garmin took a step in the right direction by adding the ability to create replies on the fly. But it would probably be a much bigger step to add logic to interpret voice input as opposed to Assistant doing it. Actual T9 would be a step in the right direction.

  • I think voice would be too much work for Garmin, it has to be perfectly implemented and in windy situations, it is a hit or miss. T9 with word prediction would be better. Garmin can allow downloading dictionary for certain languages, and you would get word prediction for those.

  • As someone who has only used WearOS watches and a pebble, its a joke that these are considered smart watches in 2024. I got this Venu 3s for free and on day 2 im already wondering what the point of this watch is. Are people really buying $400 pedometers that can't even take a voice input to reply to a text message? Adding voice to anything should not be considered a big step when we have things like conversational AI on the same priced Pixel Watch 3. I can't even give this watch away without warning how useless it is to the person im giving it too, would feel bad for them to find out they need to remember T9 texting from 1996

  • Actually you can be happy. The 1000$ Fenix 8 even doesn't have a keyboard. Garmin clearly has to concentrate in future on smartwatch functions. But there are here still many people who try to bad-mouth any new functions, it was with the Amoled Displays, now it's with the Smartwatch functions. Once again, it's about having the choice. If somebody don't want, he doesn't have to use these features. But Garmin has clearly to catch up regarding Smartwatch functions. Just look at the notifications. There are only mirrored a few app icons from the phone like WhatsApp, Facebook and so on. The rest is grouped under the SMS icon and you can just guess, from which app the notification is.

  • Only Wear OS will be deeply integrated into Android. Don't get a Garmin watch expecting it to behave like a Pixel watch, get a Pixel watch if that's what you want.

It's a bit dramatic to call a Garmin watch a $400 pedometer, no? I doubt any watch will provide more, or better, information than Connect.
