Using HRM-Pro Cheststrap - HR-LEDs remains on

Are they on solid or flashing?  Flashing would be normal and the data would be coming from the HRM-PRO

Could also be the LEDs are used to determine you're wearing the watch, stress measurement, etc., not just for determining current heart rate.

I think the two LEDs will always be on when you wear the watch. I don't know why, but some suggest it is for Garmin Pay. Wouldn't the Connect app tell you from where the data is taken? I am sorry because I don't use a chest strap so I don't know how it displays on the connect app. But I agree with what "jim_m_58" said if you have successfully paired the HRM-Pro, it would take the data from that because, for any activity, all 6 LEDs will be turned on (For accuracy), I have noticed that in running, cycling, and badminton. It should be the same for Cardio, if all 6 are turned on, it is taking from the watch, if not it is taking from the chest strap.

not specific to your topic, but you´re the first one I realize with a HRM that´s able to deliver running dynamics 

so is the Venu 3 able to read the running dynamics from a HRM and show it in Garmin Connect or

is it just the own watch based values that are shown?

however I am interested to know if it also reads them from the HRM (like HR itself is recorded by the watch and an external chest strap in parallel)

Yes, the latest 8.25 update provides the wrist-based running dynamics. Again, I don't own an HRM, but my guess is, it would take the data from the HRM because that is more accurate than the wrist-based.

And when paired with an HRM, I don't think the watch records HR.
