Venu 3 and Swim

Has the Venu 3 improved the display of data pages within the swimming activity?

The Venu 2S displays only 1 data page in the swimming 'activity' and this is a notable limitation

For those who use the Venu 3 in the pool, can you confirm if there are more than one data pages?

thankie you

  • 1. The venu 3 recognizes wrong stroke (I only swim freestyle but venu 3 recognize breaststroke
    2. Swimming workouts do not support venu 3
    3. This is swimming activity see below

  • I went swimming in a pool for the first time with venu 3 today.

    I noticed following:

There is only one data page that you can set with up to four data fields.

However, there were two data pages during an activity... first one for swim intervals, second one for resting time.

I did have automatic resting time recognition turned on, so the watch toggled between the two automatically and it worked quite well for me. Diferent swim styles. But I would like to test it a bit more and check for the actual rest/swim time.

One thing i did notice though: if I stop swimming in the middle of a pool, the watch shows me, that I finnished whole pool distance. I gess that it can not recognize the actual distance, only stops and goes. But right now that does not really bother me much.

  • Thanks for your check. Although the activity report in Garmin Connect is exhaustive, seeing only 4 during the swim (and rest time) is a bit frustrating for me...
The Venu 3 is really beautiful and elegant, but perhaps for me a Forerunner 265 or 965 is better. HI
  • Sadly the Venu series does not come with the full set of swimming functionality that the Swim 2 has.

To get the swim functionality of the Swim 2 with the Venu smartwatch features, you pretty much need to buy an Epix.  Or you can get a FR 255/65 or a Fenix 7, where you'd be getting a whole bunch of fancy running/cycling training features that don't work with swimming.  It totally sucks.

  • I have a Garmin Instinct that has multiple pool swim data screens.  I just got a Venu 3 and have only found one data screen. I am hoping i can still use the drill feature by pressing the B button.  If not, i may have to return this watch too.  You can make multiple pool swim activities for Meters or Yards and rename the activities. I had a vivo active watch, and you could not rename activities so i returned that watch.  Garmin lists all of these watches as swim watches but they are all very different in capabilities and Garmin does not tell you that.

  • I finally managed to get my first swim today with the watch. The total distance was spot on and the other data seems accurate.

But having only one screen has to be an oversight by Garmin right!? It seems like swimming (indoor + outdoor) is the only activity where we have this limitation and the watch offers so many swimming specific data fields.

Being limited to only 3-4 screen is something I can live with but only a single one is ridiculous.

  • Venu doesn't have drill mode.  You're correct that Garmin doesn't exactly advertise that some of its watches lack the functionality of other watches, but if you look at the specifications and compare with other watches you'll see the differences.
