Phone calls issues

Hi Guys,

Have you noticed the issues with the phone calls functionality after last SW update to version 7.07?
I have noticed couple of issues:
- incoming calls (at the moment when someone is calling) do not show on the watch. Afterwards there is only a notification "Missed Call" (but that is taken from phone notifications - not the "calling" context). You can read that notification and use "dial" back, but it makes that phone is calling, not through "the watch" (there is no option to speak/listen through the watch)

- When you use "Phone" app on the watch you can not dial the phone number (disabled function for "clicking", you can go to the contacts, but when you try to choose one there is info "No Phone Connection").

Everything else works perfectly. BT connection is established.

A few weeks back phone calls (incoming calls) worked very well, I think that issue appeared after I updated SW version to 7.07. (BTW I have all permissions, I didn't change anything neither in my phone nor Garmin Connect app, call audio is enabled in watch settings).

Above checked on 2 devices (and there are the same issues):
Iphone 13 - iOS 17.1 (and previous version)

Huawei P20 Pro - Android 12.0.0

  • Update...

I have just checked above situation with my daughter's phone (motoG31, Android 12.0) and there is a different issue:
    - incoming calls are visible and I am able to make a call from the watch - watch is presenting ongoing calling, but phone is not making a call

    - I am able to answer the incoming call via watch, but mic and speaker in watch don't work

  • I didn’t have any problem with calling functionality on iphone 13 pro and ios 17.0.3. Recently updated my phone to 17.1 but haven’t tried calling anyone or answering

  • Thanks Emin for that comment Slight smile Thanks to it I triple checked all what I could do with the iPhone connectivity - and I solved my issue (at least on iPhone).

What I did - I removed all the context of my Garmin from iPhone (not only applications Connect and ConnectIQ, but I reset all Bluetooth contexts separately as well). Then I reinstalled everything again - it worked.
That proves, that my initial hypothesis (issue with the new SW version) was wrong and I see different reason of described above issue - as I replicated that again today.
Mainly - I have working functions (incoming calls) on my iPhone, I disconnect my watch from this device and I try to connect it to Huawei P20 Pro. Process works -> all things instead of incoming calls (as described in first post) work on Huawei. When I want to connect/pair Garmin back to iPhone process works, but the issue with incoming calls remains. Only when I reinstall everything on my iPhone then, incoming calls start to work again.
So the issue appears when I connect Garmin to Huawei, and the issue remains when I connect back to iPhone (without any additional activities). I know that Huawei is not on the list of fully supported devices for Garmin and perhaps that is the reason, but still it is weird that I can answer the messages with text input from Garmin on my Huawei, but calls do not work. Maybe with the next SW update Garmin will improve some connectivity stability.
