External workouts from Connect not syncing to watch and new Body Battery Factors

Hi,

Long term reader, first time poster.

I sometimes record activities externally these can get imported to Connect but do not show in a Garmin watch.

I tried on several Garmins, but on none of them. Now usually this isn't such a big issue maybe

Where it does become an issue is with the new factor feature in body battery, because the activities will not show up in factors, Sleep Coach Activity History

So that whole feature is useless unless you stay within the walled garden of Garmin?

So either the activity has to be done on a Garmin watch, but imported activities don't work? why? I don't see any reason for this

  • OK... I've been looking into buying the venu 3, which I consider an expensive watch but it was now put on hold because of this.

One of the major reasons to buy this watch was to take advantage of Garmin ecosystem which I assumed would sync easily between the watch and a Garmin gps that I own. If it does not I'm not going to spend the money on the watch.

  • This is indeed a significant mistake by Garmin. I've been using the Garmin 530 for mountain biking. It would have been great to continue using it, but because it doesn't affect the body battery, I'm only using the 530 for real-time monitoring and as a backup tracker. After the ride, I simply delete the 530's data and keep the Venu's.

  • This is so so dumb... This is how and why companies create ecosystems. To boost cross sales of different devices. I can see people moving towards using the watches only and foregoing the gps entirely. So dumb... There are things in the Garmin decision making that are hard to believe
