Garmin, please enable setting of user’s FTP

There is at the moment no way to set your FTP (from the default 200) on the Venu3, either on the watch itself or via the Connect app. Garmin, please fix this — it’s nuts that a device that records cycling power doesn’t allow this basic setting to be changed by the user. Thank you.

  • Yeah, I guess it doesn’t really matter.  On my old Garmin, I could set the cycling heart rate zones based on FTP and now with the Venu I cannot, and I’m disappointed by this.  Oh well.

  • Did the ride upload to Connect.garmin.com or to the Connect app? If it did, your FTP should be in the Performance Data section. If it isn’t, then I’m afraid I’m all out of answers.

  • If you’re using an Edge to record your rides, you don’t need to bother with FTP on your V3. Your Edge will calculate your FTP and it will upload to Garmin’s cloud, assuming of course that you ride with a power meter. No power meter, no FTP.

  • Yep.  I got all that with the Edge.  What I don't understand is where it would factor in with the Venu3.  There's no mention of FTP in the Garmin Venu3 manual. Does it show up when recording a ride activity on the Venu3 using a PM?  Or perhaps when doing a scheduled workout using the Venu3? And if in those two places, I presume the issue in this thread is that it shows power as a percentage of FTP, but that FTP is a fixed 200W, so not actually relevant. Is that the issue?
