HR reading low - Anyone else?

Sitting here in my chair, so not moving around.

Venu 3 HR = 67bpm
Chest Strap = 84bpm

Venu 3 seems to read low by a varying amount of 5-10bpm

I've tried moving the watch up and down my wrist, same result.
I've validated the result using my pulse and a stopwatch.

  • So I’ve had a venu now for 3 months after being with fit bit devices for 10 years.   First month garmin was great.   HR pretty accurate, activity pretty accurate about a month ago my watch wasn’t monitoring sleep.    Called service had to reset the watch.  Work fine for 5-10 days.   Then about 10 days ago all of a sudden HR was low on everything!   Intense weightlifting session HR wouldn’t get over 110, elliptical high resistance intense pace 121-125.    Both of these are 15-25 lower than my norm.   Yesterday I lifted for 1:15 minutes, ran on elliptical for 35 minutes and walked 22k steps total

and my watch says I burned 3300 calories.   I’m 265 lbs.  I burn about 2500-2700 just standing still in a day.   Before the issues on a typical day like this my watch would read 4300-5000 plus.

called service got the run around we can sell you a chest strap etc etc.    I said I’d like to see why the watch stopped working properly, they admitted the HR accuracy has been a problem.  But didn’t offer a refund or potential upgrade (amazing since it’s less than 90 days old).  Needless to say I don’t expect it to be perfect but with in 5-10 I think is reasonable.    Shame I was really

liking the garmin, but service really let me down.   I took the watch back to the store and got a Fitbit.    If service would have been more attentive to the problem and offered a solution other than a cheat strap I’d definitely still be with garmin.   After looking at multiple boards it’s clear this is an known issue with some of their venu products.

shame I was excited about garmin unfortunately they have lost a customer over the watch not working properly and them not providing a solution to rectify the watch.

  • That would drastically reduce the battery life. I don't have this issue or flaw. I do not have a chest strap, but I compared mine with a BP monitor and the HR was within 2-3 bpm, which is fairly good, because I don't wear it tight while resting.

To use all the 6 LEDs while resting, you can navigate to the HR widget and tap on it. Once you are inside the widget screen, all 6 LEDs are activated. You can compare that with your past readings while sitting and see how it varies.

  • My venu 3 did not pick up my raised heart beat when I was exercising.   Should be at least 140 and averages 84.

I did the same route the day before and it worked.

Not sure what the issue is

  • I have the same issue, around 15-20% HR too low. I have also issues with Bluetooth connection with headphones and HR broadcast. I wonder if I got a lemon.

  • It seems to happen the odd time after charging.  If you turn it off and on again, it might help.  It ran low for a few days.  Seems ok today when I tried it   could be a software issue.  Worth seeing if software update.

    It is frustrating though.
