Will the Venu 2 receive any more updates? Battery drain is ridiculous and a widespread issue looking at the forums

My Venu 2s battery drain is ridiculous. I rarely ever get a low battery warning anymore because once it's below 25-30% it shuts off within minutes. Yesterday I started around 55% and somehow 30 minutes of GPS use during the day led to it dying shortly after I fell asleep, again with no low battery warning.

The watch basically has 70% the battery it used to. I understand that batteries wear and age with time, but this is a sudden issue and seems to be a common one looking across the forums. Batteries slowly degrade, they don't go from perfectly fine to dying at 30% so suddenly. It seems to be related to the latest update as that's when most people started noticing issues.

Garmin, are you looking into this at all? Support responses in the forums have pretty much ignored this issue. Is it planned obsolescence to get us all to upgrade from our 3 year old watches?

It's crazy that a watch with a supposed week's worth of battery life needs charged almost everyday because once I drop below 50% I have no idea when it will decide to shut off.

  • I'm on the current update (not beta) and watch now only does 3 days. A year or so ago it did almost 6 days. I think the battery itself is half the problem.

I doubt if we will ever see any major fix foe the Venu2 because the Venu3 has been current now for some time. Garmin will make sure these things do not have a long life in hopes that we will upgrade and spend more money.

  • Hello!

If you are experiencing this, please contact Garmin Support in your region. This behavior is not exclusively software related and it is possible that your device will need to be exchanged. Exchanges cannot be initiated via the Forums.

  • I'm not paying for a refurbished unit

  • I too have a crazy drain on my venu2. From a full charge it lasts less than 24 hours. When it gets near to the 50% mark it powers off, and shows battery at 0% needing a charge. Ive contacted support and hey presto its a battery issue, and they will happily swap it out for a refurbished venu2 at a cost. If I enable battery saver before going to bed, theres some charge in the morning but cant go through this crazyness of will my battery last if I go for a run if the charge isnt close to 100% I agree that this only happened since the last upgrade, I could go a good few days before needing a recharge.
