Golf Courses Not Downloading with v.19.05

I am not able to update golf courses on my Venu 2 this season. Last summer I could have 10 golf courses downloaded to the connect app, and it would transfer the closest five courses to the watch when I started a golf activity. However, this year that functionality is broken. To get new courses on my watch I've had to factory reset it twice now, which is not a viable solution going forward. I've tried deleting courses off the connect app (to less than 5) and they don't delete off the watch.

When course syncing works as designed it completes in 5 seconds or so. When it fails it takes roughly 30 seconds, completing in a message "Courses Found", then displays the old courses and not the ones that are closest to my location.

  • I have this same problem, would be great to have a response from Garmin on fixing this. I do realize it was only posted 1 day ago.

  • The following considerations are recommended as outlined below:

    • When outside, open the Garmin Connect mobile app > Confirm your Venu is showing connected in the Garmin Devices section of the app > Tap the Sync button > On the watch, start the golf activity and the 5 nearest courses to you should then display from your downloaded courses list.
    • If the courses are not loading after the satellite acquisition, delete the courses from the downloaded golf courses list in the Garmin Connect mobile app and then re-download a couple courses you play often > Then sync your watch, take it outside > Start the golf activity and they should then load.
    • Make sure your Venu 2 is up to date to the most current version of software (Version 19.05 at the time of this comment) > ensure the Garmin Connect mobile app is also up to date (version 5.1 currently for both Android and iOS) > If you are not sure, search the Connect mobile app in the app store on your phone and if an update is available, it will show the option to update and install on the app download page.
    • Confirm your smartphone OS is up to date to the most current version offered for your smartphone model.
    • Confirm the steps outlined on the Garmin Support page are follow per the link here: Troubleshooting Golf Courses That Will Not Download From the Garmin Connect App

  • Unfortunately this is not working. I walked through these steps exactly and now I’m getting the message on my watch, “Course Transfer Error”.  I can no longer sync any courses to my watch at all. Triumph

  • Did you install the driving range app from the IQ store? I’m curious if the issue could be connected.

  • Same issue, Garmin support has been no help and this product is useless for golfing now with the new update. Please advise.

  • I am dealing with this issue, none of the steps worked.

  • I have just purchased a new Garmin Venu 2, and im having the same issue, and the golf functionality is one of the reasons for the purchase.

  • I've fixed my Venu 2 plus. Took 3 days of tinkering, but I got it.

    • I logged out of the Garmin Connect App on my phone and deleted it.
    • Forgot the device from my bluetooth list on my phone.
    • The most important thing, I think, is on the watch you need to select "Reset Default Settings" and NOT "Delete Data and Reset Settings."
    • Download the app again and log in.
    • Start up the watch and connect to your phone.
    • Download a course then sync the watch from the phone app.
    • Start a golf activity from the watch and let the GPS connect first.

After all of that the course I downloaded showed up. I hope this helps someone.

  • Same issue for me. Garmin, please fix.

  • This worked for two days. Tried downloading a new course. FAILED
