TACX workouts moving to Garmin Connect means I am no longer able to use the workout function with my Flux 2.

As stated in the title.

Currently I use the TACX riding app with custom workouts where the watch is connected to my phone through the broadcast heart rate function and the trainer to my phone via bluetooth.

The workout function being moved to the Garmin Connect app is fine, except my Venu 2S cannot connect to my Flux 2 trainer which means I can no longer use the workout function properly.

Since my watch cannot connect to the trainer it means the workout functionality is actually not something that can work.

So I now have a $1500 trainer and a $700 watch that dont work together.

  • So the trainer cannot accept ANT+ or BLE from any external source? That seems really strange for a $1500 trainer, I'd be on the phone to Garmin support about the Tacx trainer.

  • Both the trainer and the watch support both bluetooth and ant.
Garmin have not specifically added trainer controlling support to the Venu 2 watch.
The new Venu 3 does support direct trainer control, the Venu 2 does not.
Since Garmin are deprecating the original method of controlling the trainer and watch together which was through the Tacx phone app I believe they should be back porting the direct trainer controlling function to the Venu 2 series.

This is not a hardware limitation of my watch or my trainer. They both support the necessary protocols for the functionality to work.

This video shows the process for adding the trainer to a watch.
When I follow this process it does no show up on my watch.

  • Ok, I didn't fully understand, since I don't use their workouts that way.

What bothers me is their statement that "any eixsting workouts you have in the Tacx Training app will be removed. If you have any workouts you want to keep, you'll want to recreate them in Carmin Connect".

That's really user frendly isn''t it?

Good luck in getting them to "back port" the function since they have the Venu 3 out and the Venu 2 is now "old". My guess is it's never going to happen and you are SOL.
